Enbrel (Etanercept) comes only in the form of an injectable solution. It comes in a single-use prefilled syringe, a single-use prefilled pen, a multiple-use vial, an auto-injector, and a single-dose prefilled cartridge for use with a reusable auto-injector.

Enbrel (Etanercept) injectable solution is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and plaque psoriasis.

Dosage Enbrel (Etanercept)

For adults with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, the usual dose of Enbrel is 50 mg per week administered as a subcutaneous injection using a 50 mg/ml single-use prefilled syringe. There are 25 mg vials of Enbrel which are also available.

The dosage of Enbrel (Etanercept) prescribed for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is based on the child’s weight. A once-weekly dosing option exists for children weighing 138 lbs or more. For plaque psoriasis, the usual dose is 50 mg twice a week for 3 months, stepped down to once weekly.

Storage

Enbrel (Etanercept) should be stored at a temperature of 36 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit. However, Enbrel can be kept at room temperature for up to 14 days. Enbrel should never be stored in the freezer.

According to enbrel.com, if traveling for more than a few hours, you should wrap Enbrel in bubble wrap and place it in a travel cooler packed with ice. Add a thermometer to the cooler and check it every few hours.
